Mahindra XUV300 unveiled; India launch in February 2019

December 19, 2018
Mahindra has released first set of official digitalized images of their upcoming sub 4-meter compact SUV codenamed S201. Mahindra has officially named the SUV the XUV300.While the vehicle is based on the SsangYong Tivoli, the touches Mahindra has added make this vehicle unmistakably a Mahindra and small brother to the XUV500. These touches include chrome grille at the front with big headlamps. The headlamps get LED projector lamps and LED DRLs. The rear gets split tail lamps. The SUV also gets diamond cut 17-inch alloy wheels. There are chrome skid plates at the front and the rear. The bumper is black colored.

While the exterior is a mix between the big brother XUV500 and the SsangYong Tivoli, the interior gravitates more towards the looks of the XUV500. The company claims the longest wheelbase in the segment which would make for a roomier cabin. The interior gets a dual-tone dashboard with steering mounted controls, a touch-screen infotainment system and sunroof similar to the XUV500; however, we would love to see the quilted seats just like the ones on the XUV500…. Fingers crossed for that.

On the safety front, you get 7 airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels and a list of features that will come as standard. The XUV300 will come with both petrol and diesel oil burners under the bonnet. A 1.5 litre diesel making 120 bhp and a newly developed 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol. Transmission only includes a 6-speed manual with no news for an automatic as of yet. The Mahindra XUV300 will take on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, and the Tata Nexon.
